Large Scale Montage

The completed versions of this group are each 70” x 70”. There are individual photographs and related montages produced as part of the evolution of each work. The montages are composed in analogy with music and song where subject matter functions like lyrics, and the formal elements provide structure for harmony, rhythm, counterpoint etc., to allow for viewers’ interaction as physical and emotional experience. Figure-ground effects of blank spaces may act like pauses in music while frequency and proportions of internal images provide measures like musical time signatures. Ideally, each montage contributes to a conversation among them.
